A type specimen book for the Playfair typeface.
The book was designed with a theme to add an element of interest above the letter forms being displayed naked on a white page. Adding a theme to the type specimen book also gives designers an idea of how the typeface will feel in a design. This was meant to emphasize the feel and shape of the letter forms as well as the beautiful glyphs included in this typeface.
based on a single day spent on the shore of Lake Michigan. All of the copy in the book are the designers memories of summers spent in Crossvillage, Michigan, and things that her Papa used to say, or sing. This theme was meant to give the piece a kind of true life of its own.
